Community Mitten Tree: Each year, from the first Saturday in November until the first Friday in December, a pine tree is set up in the banquet hall of Hoppie's Restaurant, located at 2 LaFayette Park (at the corner of Route 12), Oxford, NY. With generosity by the community, it gets filled with colorful knit mittens, hats, and slippers. (For safety reasons, scarves are not accepted.) New toys and books are sometimes donated too, and placed under the tree. The CWU collects these ‘gifts from the heart’ and uses them to fill the annual Community Christmas Baskets. If there are any extras, they're donated to the Oxford Primary School and to Oxford Head Start to keep little heads, hands, and feet warm. |
Open: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 9 AM to 4 PM and Saturdays 9 AM to 1 PM |
Monetary donations can be made at the store or checks can be mailed to: Oxford Food Pantry, St. Paul's Episcopal Church 34 Main St, Oxford NY 13830-3439 |
